Slow down, sketch and appreciate the transient beauty of Autumn with Wild Life Drawing.
To celebrate the latest exhibition at the Garden Museum, Rory McEwen: Nature’s Song, we will be zooming in and absorbing the intricate beauty of leaves in flux, as they lose their chlorophyll and begin the decomposition process that provides food and nutrients for the next cycle of life. We will take inspiration from McEwen’s sensitive and complex paintings of autumn leaves, which magnify the wonder of the shifting seasons.
Nature illustrator Jennie Webber will be guiding you through the process of observational drawing, with plenty of encouragement and creative support. Jennie will also be sharing some of the behind-the-scenes processes that went into her award winning children’s book It Starts with a Seed. We can assure you that you’ll never look at a leaf in the same way again!
This class is open to all abilities, especially beginners. All materials are provided and there will be plenty of colours to experiment with, including watercolour paints and pastels.
