Branch Out | Conservation Practice

This workshop is part of the Garden Museum's Branch Out programme, a series of free events and activities exploring gardening, art, floristry, plant science, history, design, and more!

How do we determine what to save, conserve, preserve and otherwise hold on to? How do we decide what needs pruning and what we hold precious? What has a right to stay - and who has a say?!

In this experimental workshop we will explore different ways of preserving plants to think through these important questions. Working with weeds as our companion, you will craft a quirky herbarium of artefacts using gold leafing, clay and biodegradable papers.

Taking place after the spring equinox we’ll reflect on the relationship with nature we want to have over a thoughtful evening of process-led artmaking, discussion and otherwise getting in touch with plant materials.
